An award winning vocalist and producer, DEIAN McBRYDE has entertained in the US, Canada, Europe, Russia and Australia as a solo artist and with his little jazz band, The Pretty Girl Orchestra. He is an independent musician who started performing as a child in small churches in his hometown of Albuquerque. His father also played heaps of big band music at home. From these vastly different influences, Deian offers a unique blend of gospel sensibility and 1940s showmanship to jazz standards, new compositions, recovered songs and vocal improvisation. Once the only Hispanic, straight-ahead, jazz vocalist in New York City (really?), Deian received a Mabel R. Dodge Fellowship at the prestigious Music Omi International Music Residency and has won two Australian Green Room Awards, an OMA Award and other awards and nominations. Deian now resides in New Mexico and travels extensively.
