"When I was a child, my family would have impromptu dances in the living room. With my dad playing big band music from the 40s on the stereo, we'd choose partners, dance solo and spin, swing and sway. Born in the 60s, my sisters lullabied me to sleep with Davie Jones, Herman’s Hermits and the Supremes. Soft 70s rock made me smile and sing along with the Starland Vocal Band. As a child of the 80s, I'd listen to everything from the B52s to Styx and Donna Summer. In the 90s, I started singing standards and in the 00s, I discovered experimental music. Heading closer to the 10s, I’ve been listening to a lot of sub-continental spiritual chanting. Every year brings me something new to hear and take in. So, I’m a mix of all of those sounds all rolled up in a jazz style that’s big into song interpretation. Basically, I’m like a sonic smoothie.”
